Discovery Golf
Goal: To provide young juniors with an entry into golf through a fun and innovative approach. Click here to register.

Program Content: Taught by LPGA member and early childhood creative movement teacher, Kate Tempesta, this program’s curriculum is based on SNAG (Starting New At Golf) which combines a mixture of miniature golf (putting) and regulation golf (driving, pitching & chipping) using over sized clubs (launcher, roller) and tennis sized golf balls. using special training tools and Kate’s unique ability to convey a combination of verbal and visual clues, your junior by the end of this program will posses the skills and enthusiasm necessary to advance into “This game of a lifetime”.

The "Garcia" Division
Goal: To provide graduating juniors of the “Discovery Golf” program and older juniors the swing skills, etiquette and rules knowledge, to prepare them for on-course play. Click here to register.

GRADUATED juniors from the “Discovery Golf” program and all juniors 10-14 years old.

$275 for 8 hour program.
Program Content: Juniors will be instructed on proper path and swing plane principles to develop a repeating swing for their woods and irons. Short game skills will be taught (chipping, pitching, bunker and putting). Etiquette and rules situations will also be covered, so that the junior can make a successful integration on to the course. In addition, each junior will be evaluated for flexibility and strength, by a certified Titleist Performance Institute golf fitness instructor. A personal fitness program will be written up for each junior, practiced with the fitness instructor and emailed to each junior so that he or she can continue their program at home.
Schedule: 8 hours of instruction, which includes 1hour of qualifying time on Thursday, between 7-8 PM.

For "Garcia" Juniors that score 17 or better on holes 1 thru 3 during the qualifying period, will receive a “NYS Junior Golf Card” that entitles a junior to play all NYS Park golf courses at a discounted rate. In addition, the junior qualifies to participate in the highest juniors level, the "Woods" division.

The "Woods" Division
Goal: To provide qualified juniors the vehicle to experience the course under tournament like conditions. Click here to register.
Program Content: On course, juniors will experience various forms of tournament play. Juniors will become proficient in, but not limited to, scorekeeping, handicapping and applying the rules of golf. Also juniors will be schooled in etiquette, sportsmanship and to respect the game and the course. On the range, each junior will have their driver launched on a monitor, which will provide ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, carry, total distance and dispersion. In addition, each junior will be evaluated for flexibility and strength, by a Titleist Performance Institute golf fitness instructor. Combining the results of these 2 evaluations, the instructors will write up a written report on what factors (grip, posture, swing path & plane, balance, flexibility, strength and equipment) that need to be addressed in order for the junior to achieve consistent results. A copy of these evaluations will be emailed to the parents.
Age Group: All juniors that have qualified by scoring 17 or better on holes 1 thru 3 or juniors that have a USGA index of 28.5 or lower. Maximum age is 15 years old.

Dress code: Juniors will be expected to wear a Montauk Downs crested shirt with either khaki pants or shorts. Registration package: Each junior golfer will receive the following:

2. USGA handicap.
3. Daily green fees.
4. The “Woods” junior card (This will provide the junior with discounts on private lessons, range balls and food and beverage items.
*CARD MUST BE PRESENTED FOR DISCOUNT
Any Junior scoring a qualifying score of 17 or better on holes 1-3 or with a USGA index of 28.5 or lower will receive a New York State junior card which will allow the junior to play all NYS golf courses at a discounted rate except weekends and holidays. Sunken Meadow Park golf course and Bethpage State Park golf courses require the junior card be presented to receive the discounted rate.
