Friends of Montauk Downs, Inc.
Is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the natural beauty and public services of this stunning State park complex at the tip of historic Long Island, New York.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the golf course at Montauk Downs is one of the top public golf courses in the United States. The course is currently undergoing a restoration under the guidance of “U.S. Open Doctor" Rees Jones. Who better to improve one of his father’s truly great golf designs. The Friends of Montauk Downs assist the award-winning New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation in funding and implementing an evolving renovation program and facility events. This public/private partnership is increasing the vitality and use of Montauk Downs, and helps the State provide the best possible facilities for use by the general public.
In partnership with NYS, private citizens and corporate sponsors, the Friends preserve and protect Montauk Downs’ natural and cultural resources, enhance capital improvements, build efficient and effective resource management practices and expand recreational opportunities for the parks ever-growing population of visitors.
In addition to golf, this world-class facility offers an Olympic-sized swimming pool, 6 Har-Tru tennis courts, and a large clubhouse ideal for a variety of year-round meetings and events. The course is home to many species of flora and fauna unique and indigenous to the eastern end of Long Island.
Upon request, representatives of FOMD are available to discuss our mission and accomplishments with grantors, trustees of foundations, endowments and individuals. We welcome your interest and possible support of all our of our efforts at improving this facility and the many resources it makes available to our east end community.
